Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo, or “Fifth of May,” celebrated on May 5, is a festive holiday for people of Mexican origin, particularly in the United States. Contrary to common belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s independence day, celebrated every September 16. This is the commemoration of an important military victory against the French Empire at the battle in Puebla in 1862 during Mexico’s French Invasion.

Folkloric dancing, Mariachi music, and most importantly, Mexican food make this special celebration an evening to remember. Mexican immigrants in the US have made Cinco de Mayo one of the most important celebrations in the country!
